Bombers Take Care of Renegades to Win Sixth in a Row

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Renegades (9-7) entered Saturday’s game having erased old wounds that involved losing a two-run lead to Queen City in the ninth and getting swept by Chillicothe. Those wounds were re-opened however as the Sedalia Bombers (12-4) tagged the Renegades for double digits, winning 10-6.

The Renegades pitching staff struggled in efficiency, as the Bombers forced 50 hitters to the plate on the night. Starter Matthew Wade never was able to find his groove, pitching to six hitters in the second, nine in the third, and five in the fourth before he was pulled. Wade gave up six runs on the evening, although only four of those were earned. Leading the way for the Bombers offensively was Gavin Jones who was able to record four hits on the night after notching only seven to that point on the season.

The Renegades wouldn’t lie down quietly however as they fought to scratch across six. They were able to chase Sedalia starter Dakota Stone after just three innings, but scored only two runs as they left six on base in that span. Cole Evans led the Renegades offensively. His presence has been a fantastic boost to the lineup and the matchup against Sedalia was no exception. Evans was able to reach base three times and produce two hits, one of which was a home run to right field.

The game was back-and-forth until the seventh, when the Bombers pulled away with four runs in the inning. The Renegades had no answer, as they were only able to get back two of those runs in the last third of the game.

Jefferson City will have a chance to end the weekend on a high note as they face the St. Joseph Mustangs for the second time this season. The first matchup is currently in limbo due to a rain delay that will be made up at the end of June.
