Renegades Crush Queen City in Walk-Off Win

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Renegades didn’t waste any time in their first game back from a lengthy road trip, sending eight hitters to the plate and brining in five runs to put the Queen City Crush in an immediate hole. After the first, an inning that saw another Jady Reese home run, it was hard to see the Crush making a comeback – but that’s exactly what they did.

After a three-run home run by Jackson Berney and five total runs in the fifth, the Crush (4-5) were in business, proceeding to score a run in the sixth, seventh, and then three in the ninth to finally pull in front. It was short-lived however, as the feisty Renegades (7-4) refused to go down, scoring three of their own to walk off the Crush 9-8.

After playing to a 6-5 lead, the Renegades needed just three outs to turn away the Crush in the only meeting between the two teams this season. Christian Watson, who entered the game with two outs in the seventh, found himself in a jam with just one out to go in the ninth. With the two runners on and a one run lead, everyone at Vivion Field watched in complete shock as the eighth place hitter Derek Hackman, left the yard entirely giving Queen City the two run advantage.

Jefferson City was undaunted – Tyler Bracht led off the inning with a single and immediately stole second, and then advanced to third as an error put the tying run on first in the form of Logan Hudson. After a sac fly by Austin Blazevic to pull within one, it was the returning Cole Evans, starting in his first game this season, that drew the Renegades even once more – singling up the middle. From there, it was none other than Jady Reese that put the finishing touches on the night. Reese sent the first pitch he saw high into the night sky for a double, as Evans scored walking off the Crush.

The Renegades will enjoy an off day Tuesday before resuming MINK League play on Wednesday, as they welcome in the Chillicothe Mudcats for the first time this season.
